SEO Isn't Dead, But it Won't Be Fooled Anymore.

While doing SEO diagnosis for a client yesterday, we found an issue that was hurting their rankings on organic search listings.  It was a link to my clients website that an advertising outlet put on their "directory" web page.  It's all too common for advertising outlets (TV and Radio stations, papers, magazines, etc.) to monezite their own directories on their websites and call it "adding value" to advertising packages, and claiming outdated benefits for optimizing your site.  Unfortunately for the un-informed buyer, this is now the opposite of helpful.

Google has started deciphering between what it calls natural and unnatural links to your site.  If you are advertising in a newspaper, and they gave you a "bonus" by linking your website in their business directory, it could actually be hurting you based on criteria search engines are now looking for.  To know for sure, you need someone who knows what to look for on your behalf.

Stay Fresh in marketing.
